🌿 Patrick Vedlog (Norway) – Hindustani Classical Flutist
Patrick Vedlog (Norway) – A masterful flutist, bringing the ethereal sounds of the North-Indian bamboo flute. Patrick Vedlog is a Bansuri player from Oslo, Norway who began his Indian classical venture in the summer of 2014. Already interested in eastern music such as Chinese and Mongolian, he was shown a performance by Ustad Zakir Hussain and Rakesh Chaurasia. The duo was so mesmerizing that Patrick immediately wanted to learn. His inspirations are the great Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pt. Rajendra Prasanna, Pt. Rakesh Chaurasia, Deepak Ram, Pt. Ronu Majumdar, Pt. Pravin Godkhini and Pt. Nityanand Haldipur.
Moa Danielsen (Sweden) – Enchanting listeners with the delicate, flowing melodies of the Santoor. Moa Danielson is a musician, culture producer and teacher. She is a freelance percussionist with her musical base in north indian classical music and balkan music and santoor, tabla and tupan/davul as main instruments. She is also active as an artistic leader in different contexts and as a teacher of music and interplay. The red thread in all Moas work and the gist of her creative focus is the cross-border interplay in different shapes: between musical genres, composition and improvisation, artist and audience, teacher and student, music and other art forms and between art and society.
Gabriel Svastha (Denmark) – Adding rhythmic depth and energy with the rich beats of the Tabla. Gabriel Svastha is one of few Tabla players of the West who has immersed himself deeply into classical and semi-classical tabla playing. From his early years, Gabriel exhibited a natural talent for music. Coming from a musical background of both parents being professional musicians, he was immersed in music from the start; particularly under the influence of his mother, Opera singer Dorthe Rose Svastha. His father, Michael Kramer, was a Violinist for the Royal Danish Orchestra. At the age of 7, Gabriel began learning tabla at International Sahaja Public School in North India, under the guidance of Sir Ashish B. Khurpe. Subsequently, he delved deeper into tabla playing, receiving instruction from Abhijit Banerjee of Farrukhabad Gharana, Imran Khan, grandson of the late Ustad Faiyaz Khan of Delhi Gharana and is currently under the guidance of Shri Praveen Karkare of Farrukhabad, Delhi and Ajrada Gharana.
Let yourself be transported by the timeless beauty of Hindustani classical music in this rare and intimate performance. Don’t miss this unique musical journey!

KALAI gladly presents a mesmerising concert featuring the incredible vocalist Saniya Patankar, known for her captivating performances in the realm of classical music. Joining her on stage is the masterful tabla player Suvrat Apte, renowned for his unparalleled skill and mastery over this ancient instrument. Adding to the harmonious ensemble is the talented Sangeet Visharad Aarti Kharwandikar whose enchanting harmonium melodies will grace the stage!
Adorning the stage on 18th May 2024, this concert will be a celebration of musical unity, cultural richness and artistic brilliance, as the artists will weave together a tapestry of music that will leave a lasting impression on our hearts and minds.
Saniya Patankar, from a family of music lovers, displayed her talent at age 3, playing harmonium melodies independently. She received blessings from Ganasaraswati Kishoritai Amonkar at 6 and commenced classical training under Smt. Lilatai Gharpure. Notable performances include her debut at 12 in front of Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki. Under Dr. Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande’s guidance for 12 years, she mastered the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana. Achieving “Sangeet Visharad” distinction, she also excelled academically, completing the C.S. Course. Saniya’s dedication earned praise from luminaries like Pt. Bhimsen Joshi and Lata Mangeshkar.
Suvrat Apte started playing tabla at the early age of 8 with his guru Sanjay Karandikar. Later he trained extensively under the tutelage of Pandit Ramdas Palsule. Recently, he received training from none other than Ustad Zakir Hussain. He has been performing in concerts for the last 10 years. He has performed in many concerts in India and Europe.
He also plays the sitar. He started his sitar training with his mother Urmila Apte. For the last 2 years, he has also been learning from KG Westman.
He regularly teaches both tabla and sitar. He has also given workshops on Indian classical music.
Apart from music, Suvrat is an accomplished software engineer. He works as a payment systems engineer at Klarna in Stockholm, Sweden.
Aarti Kharwandikar, a prodigious talent who embarked on her musical voyage at the tender age of eight. Her journey, sparked by her mother’s encouragement and guidance, found its first milestone with Mrs. Hema Natu, her inaugural guru. Natu not only introduced Aarti to the world of Indian classical music but also empowered her with the confidence to shine in numerous singing competitions during her school and college days. By nineteen, under the tutelage of Smt. Vijayagauri Bokil, Aarti achieved a significant academic milestone, completing Sangeet Visharad in Indian Classical vocals.
Today, Aarti’s musical odyssey continues under the mentorship of Vidushi Smt. Anuradha Kuber, a distinguished performer of the Bhendi Bazar Gharana Gayaki. She is further honing her skills, pursuing Sangeet Alankar with Dr. Kasturi Paigude, a disciple of the renowned Vidushi Aarti Ankalikar Tikekar.
Aarti’s talents extend beyond the realm of music. With an MBA in Finance, she has carved a successful career in the corporate world, contributing her expertise to various multinational corporations across India, Singapore, and Denmark. Aarti Kharwandikar’s journey is a testament to her multifaceted abilities, dedication, and passion for both art and the professional world.
