🇮🇳Celebrate the Spirit of Freedom: India’s 78th Independence Day🇮🇳

KALAI cordially invites you all to come together to celebrate the anniversary of our nation’s freedom. Let us all express our heartfelt gratitude and salute the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom.🙏

Please note that this is a public event open for everyone.

📅 Date and Time: Saturday, 17th August 2024, 14.00 to 19.30

🏡 Venue: Sølystskolen Egå Havvej 5, 8250 Egå

The celebration will include the following activities.

  • Cultural Performances: Enjoy patriotic dances, music, and drama/skit.
  • Patriotic Songs: Sing along to your favorite national songs.
  • Inspirational Speeches: Hear from esteemed guests and community leaders.
  • Fancy Dress: Witness Kids and adults dressed up as Freedom fighters/Kings/Queens who contributed to India’s independence.

You can send entries for below:

  • Skit: 15-20 mins
  • Dance (group/solo): 5 min max
  • Singing (group/solo): 5 min max
  • Fancy Dress for both adults and kids

Entry Fee: (Note that Entry fee is non-refundable)

(Includes Entry fee + Tea + Snacks + Dinner)

  • 125 Kr. for Non KALAI members
  • 100 Kr. for KALAI members  
  • 60 Kr. for kids (7-12 years) (Only accompanied with adults). Also, the performers need to choose this category.
  • 100 Kr. for Youth (12-18 years) and Students against valid student Identity card. 
  • Free entry for children up to 6 years old (Only accompanied with adults)

Payment mode: Online booking only.

Parking: Venue has a good amount of free parking. You can also park in a residential area near by Venue. 

Outside food/drink: It is strictly prohibited to bring any food/drink from outside. 

Alcohol: Consumption of alcohol in/around the venue area is strictly prohibited.

It would be really nice if not only the kids but their parents can also come dressed in the traditional dresses of their states and demonstrate the true meaning of Unity in diversity.

Vocal Concert – Saniya Patankar, Suvrat Apte & Aarti Kharwandikar – 18th May. 2024

KALAI gladly presents a mesmerising concert featuring the incredible vocalist Saniya Patankar, known for her captivating performances in the realm of classical music. Joining her on stage is the masterful tabla player Suvrat Apte, renowned for his unparalleled skill and mastery over this ancient instrument. Adding to the harmonious ensemble is the talented Sangeet Visharad Aarti Kharwandikar whose enchanting harmonium melodies will grace the stage! 

Adorning the stage on 18th May 2024, this concert will be a celebration of musical unity, cultural richness and artistic brilliance, as the artists will weave together a tapestry of music that will leave a lasting impression on our hearts and minds.

Saniya Patankar – Hindustani Classical Vocalist

Saniya Patankar, from a family of music lovers, displayed her talent at age 3, playing harmonium melodies independently. She received blessings from Ganasaraswati Kishoritai Amonkar at 6 and commenced classical training under Smt. Lilatai Gharpure. Notable performances include her debut at 12 in front of Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki. Under Dr. Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande’s guidance for 12 years, she mastered the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana. Achieving “Sangeet Visharad” distinction, she also excelled academically, completing the C.S. Course. Saniya’s dedication earned praise from luminaries like Pt. Bhimsen Joshi and Lata Mangeshkar.

Suvrat Apte – Tabla

Suvrat Apte started playing tabla at the early age of 8 with his guru Sanjay Karandikar. Later he trained extensively under the tutelage of Pandit Ramdas Palsule. Recently, he received training from none other than Ustad Zakir Hussain. He has been performing in concerts for the last 10 years. He has performed in many concerts in India and Europe.

He also plays the sitar. He started his sitar training with his mother Urmila Apte. For the last 2 years, he has also been learning from KG Westman.

He regularly teaches both tabla and sitar. He has also given workshops on Indian classical music.

Apart from music, Suvrat is an accomplished software engineer. He works as a payment systems engineer at Klarna in Stockholm, Sweden.

Aarti Kharwandikar – Harmonium

Aarti Kharwandikar, a prodigious talent who embarked on her musical voyage at the tender age of eight. Her journey, sparked by her mother’s encouragement and guidance, found its first milestone with Mrs. Hema Natu, her inaugural guru. Natu not only introduced Aarti to the world of Indian classical music but also empowered her with the confidence to shine in numerous singing competitions during her school and college days. By nineteen, under the tutelage of Smt. Vijayagauri Bokil, Aarti achieved a significant academic milestone, completing Sangeet Visharad in Indian Classical vocals.

Today, Aarti’s musical odyssey continues under the mentorship of Vidushi Smt. Anuradha Kuber, a distinguished performer of the Bhendi Bazar Gharana Gayaki. She is further honing her skills, pursuing Sangeet Alankar with Dr. Kasturi Paigude, a disciple of the renowned Vidushi Aarti Ankalikar Tikekar.

Aarti’s talents extend beyond the realm of music. With an MBA in Finance, she has carved a successful career in the corporate world, contributing her expertise to various multinational corporations across India, Singapore, and Denmark. Aarti Kharwandikar’s journey is a testament to her multifaceted abilities, dedication, and passion for both art and the professional world.

Audience: Concert is targeted to adults only. However, kids can come along with adults if he/she can keep silence. Seat booking (Ticket) is required for kids as well.

  • Premium seats price (seats close to the stage): 140 Kr. (Limited seats)
  • Regular seats (rest of the seats) : 120 Kr.

  • Student/Youth (upto 18 years) price (Regular seats):: 80 Kr. (Only for College & University students. Need to present valid Student ID)
  • Group discount 20%: Buy 5 tickets at the cost of 4. Price: Regular seats: 480 Kr. , Premium seats: 560 Kr.
  • KALAI members: 20% discount to members only. Valid for Premium & Regular seats only. Not valid for Student/Youth/Group tickets. Any guest / kid of KALAI members is not eligible for this offer.

Celebrating Indian Independence 2023

CELEBRATING INDIA’S 77TH INDEPENDENCE DAY

Freedom in the mind,
Faith in the words,
Pride in our souls, 
Let's come together to salute the Nation on this Independence Day!

KALAI would like to invite all members and non members (with a fee of 50kr.) to celebrate India’s unity and spirit of patriotism along with an opportunity to express ourselves.

Following are planned activities:

  • Solo, duet or group Singing/Dancing/Playing instruments on patriotic songs. 
  • Ethnic dress for both kids and adults portraying a freedom fighter. 
  • Skits or short plays. 
  • Poetry related to the theme. 

Program Date : 19th August 2023 from 14:00 to 20:00

Location: Skovvangskolen, Skovvangsvej 150, 8200 Aarhus

This event is for KALAI members however you have a possibility to invite your guests. Entry for members is free. There is a fee of 50 Kr. for guests. Kids below 18 years are free however they can come to the event only with an adult.

Please register latest by 13th August 2023.

If you are not a KALAI member yet, you have an opportunity to perform in the event by sending their entries to events@kalai.dk. Last date for sending entries is 25th July. We have limited numbers of performance slots.
