KALAI is thrilled to announce “Diwali Utsav” (Festival of Lights) for the very first time! KALAI invites you all to come together to celebrate Diwali with joy, laughter, and warmth. It’s the perfect time to cherish the company of friends, indulge in delicious Indian cuisine, and light up our lives with the glow of diyas.🪔

To add an extra layer of vibrancy and cultural richness to our Diwali Utsav, we invite you to come dressed in your most exquisite traditional attire. Whether it’s a stunning saree, a dapper kurta, or any other beautiful Indian outfit, this is your chance to showcase your style and be part of our Desi Fashion Show!🤩

If you are also interested in performing Group dance or Group song, or any other exciting group performance, please send your entries to events@kalai.dk latest by 6th November 2023. Please include a brief description of the performance, number of performers, their names and the duration.

Date/Time: Saturday 18th Nov 2023 from 16:30 till 20:30

Entry Fee: (Note that Entry fee is non-refundable)

  • 65 Kr. for Non KALAI members,
  • 50 Kr. for KALAI members (Non-transferable),
  • 40 Kr. for Youth (12-18 years)
  • 40 Kr. for Students against valid student Identity card.
  • Free entry for children up to 12 years old. 

Payment mode: Online payment through credit/debit/Dankort/MobilePay/ApplePay/GooglePay while making your booking. MobilePay will be used for stall payments. Other payment options like Credit/Debit Card or Cash payment are available for the food coupons (Only when you do not have Mobilepay).

Food stalls: Food can be purchased from the food stalls at the venue. If you are interested in keeping your food stall then please contact us on email events@kalai.dk or Whatsapp/SMS on +45-50119200. 

Parking: Standard (Private & Kommune) paid/free parking available around the venue. 

Outside food/drink: It is strictly prohibited to bring any food/drink from outside.

Dandiya Fiesta 2023

KALAI welcomes you all to “Dandiya Fiesta 2023“. 

Join Us for a Dazzling Dandiya Night!

It is time to grab your Dandiya sticks and get ready to dance the night away!

KALAI would like to invite all of you to “Dandiya Fiesta 2023” to light up the night with vibrant colors, rhythmic beats and mouthwatering food.

Savour delicious Indian cuisine, delectable snacks and drinks at our food stalls to refuel your energy for non-stop dancing.

Let’s Dance, have Fun , enjoy Food and celebrate Navratri. 

Dandiya is a traditional folk dance performed during the nine days long festival called Navratri (Nine nights). Dandiya is usually performed in a group with decorated wooden sticks, which are used as props.

 If you have no experience with Dandiya dance, don’t worry all you need to bring is charm to dance and a big appetite.

Date/Time: Saturday 14th Oct 2023 from 16:30 till 19:30

Entry Fee: 50 Kr. for Non KALAI members and 40 Kr. (20% discount) for KALAI members. Children below 12 years old have free entry.  Note that Entry fee is non-refundable.

Melodic Beats – Saxophone & Tabla by Jesse & Hiren – 30th Sept. 2023

KALAI is proud to announce that “Jesse Bannister“, a world renowned Indian classical saxophonist from UK (United Kingdom) with the very eminent tabla player “Hiren Chate” will be coming to Aarhus in the coming month of September 2023.

This duo would take you all on a musical journey filled with some soul stirring melodies of Hindustani classical music showcasing the depth and beauty of Indian musical traditions.The distinctive mood and atmosphere set by the melodic ragas played from the Saxophone will be accompanied by the taal from the tabla. The concert will take you through flights of ecstasy, meditative passages and excitement. The Jugalbandi between Saxophone and Tabla will be a special treat to the music lovers.

Audience: Concert is targeted to adults only. However, kids can come along with adults if he/she can keep silent. Seat booking (Ticket) is required for kids as well.

  • Premium seats price (seats close to the stage): 175 Kr. (Limited seats)
  • Regular seats (rest of the seats) : 140 Kr.

Current offers are as follows:

  • Student price (Regular seats):: 70 Kr. (Only for College & University students. Need to present valid Student ID)
  • Group discount 20%: Buy 5 tickets at the cost of 4. Price: Regular seats: 560 Kr. , Premium seats: 700 Kr.

Celebrating Indian Independence 2023

CELEBRATING INDIA’S 77TH INDEPENDENCE DAY

Freedom in the mind,
Faith in the words,
Pride in our souls, 
Let's come together to salute the Nation on this Independence Day!

KALAI would like to invite all members and non members (with a fee of 50kr.) to celebrate India’s unity and spirit of patriotism along with an opportunity to express ourselves.

Following are planned activities:

  • Solo, duet or group Singing/Dancing/Playing instruments on patriotic songs. 
  • Ethnic dress for both kids and adults portraying a freedom fighter. 
  • Skits or short plays. 
  • Poetry related to the theme. 

Program Date : 19th August 2023 from 14:00 to 20:00

Location: Skovvangskolen, Skovvangsvej 150, 8200 Aarhus

This event is for KALAI members however you have a possibility to invite your guests. Entry for members is free. There is a fee of 50 Kr. for guests. Kids below 18 years are free however they can come to the event only with an adult.

Please register latest by 13th August 2023.

If you are not a KALAI member yet, you have an opportunity to perform in the event by sending their entries to events@kalai.dk. Last date for sending entries is 25th July. We have limited numbers of performance slots.

Carnatic Music by Shantala S. – 19th Feb. 2023

KALAI is proud to present acclaimed Indian musicians Shantala Subramanyam on Flute together with Madan Mohan on Violin and Hariharan on Mridangam (South indian drum).

The trio will be led by Shantala Subramyanam, from Chennai, the heartland of Carnatic music. It is renowned for its emphasis on improvisation of beautiful ragas followed by compositions with spiritual, philosophical and nature themes. The compositions are followed by spontaneous exchanges of highly evolved rhythmic improvisations. The concert will take you through flights of ecstasy, meditative passages and excitement. Madan Mohan on the Violin  and Hariharan on the Mridangam and kunnakol will complete the trio with their competence.
