Shantala Subramanyam – Flute  and vocal

Shantala, born in Bangalore – India, was immersed in music right from her birth having born into an illustrious music family.  She was initiated into formal training in Carnatic [South Indian] Classical vocal music at a tender age of 4 and she took to flute playing when she was about 11 years old. This view has been echoed by music critiques. She has been highly appreciated for her melodic presentations combined with complex rhythmic patterns.

She has released a double album CD titled “Bamboo in Harmony”, “Singing Bamboo” and “Dakshin” which has been highly appreciated by critiques and audiences alike. In this CD she has collaborated with some of the most sought after artists from South India.
