KALAI is excited to invite you to “KALAI Dandiya Night 2024” – a night bursting with vibrant colors, energetic beats, and irresistible food.

Dandiya is a traditional folk dance performed during the nine days long festival called Navratri (Nine nights). Dandiya is usually performed in a group with decorated wooden sticks, which are used as props.
If you have no experience with Dandiya dance, don’t worry, all you need to bring is charm to dance and a big appetite.

Entry Fee: 50 Kr. for Non KALAI members, 40 Kr. (20% discount) for KALAI members & 35 Kr. for Youth (12-18 years), Students & Pensioner. Children below 12 years old have free entry. Note that Entry fee is non-refundable.
Payment mode: Online registration. If we have place available on the date of event then you can pay using Mobilepay, Credit/Debit Card or Cash at the venue.

KALAI cordially invites you all to come together to celebrate the anniversary of our nation’s freedom. Let us all express our heartfelt gratitude and salute the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom.🙏
Please note that this is a public event open for everyone.

The celebration will include the following activities.
- Cultural Performances: Enjoy patriotic dances, music, and drama/skit.
- Patriotic Songs: Sing along to your favorite national songs.
- Inspirational Speeches: Hear from esteemed guests and community leaders.
- Fancy Dress: Witness Kids and adults dressed up as Freedom fighters/Kings/Queens who contributed to India’s independence.

After the grand success 🙌 of last year’s SASYA UTSAV, KALAI is back again with “ SASYA UTSAV 2024: The Festival Of Harvest ”. KALAI is very delighted to invite you all to this harvest festival which is celebrated across India under various names.

Regional dance performances would be one of the biggest attractions of the Saya Utsav Event. But this time the event’s showstopper would be “Fancy dress for Kids”. KALAI invites all the children participants to come dressed in the beautiful ethnic dresses of their state/region and be a part of our Fancy dress Show. If you are interested in performing a Regional Group dance based on Sankranti songs/folk dance from a particular state or would like to present a small skit depicting how Sankranti is celebrated in your state, then please send your entries to events@kalai.dk on or before 20th December. Please include a brief description of the performance, number of performers, their names and the duration.

Celebrating Indian Independence 2023
CELEBRATING INDIA’S 77TH INDEPENDENCE DAY
Freedom in the mind, Faith in the words, Pride in our souls, Let's come together to salute the Nation on this Independence Day!
KALAI would like to invite all members and non members (with a fee of 50kr.) to celebrate India’s unity and spirit of patriotism along with an opportunity to express ourselves.
Following are planned activities:
- Solo, duet or group Singing/Dancing/Playing instruments on patriotic songs.
- Ethnic dress for both kids and adults portraying a freedom fighter.
- Skits or short plays.
- Poetry related to the theme.
Program Date : 19th August 2023 from 14:00 to 20:00
Location: Skovvangskolen, Skovvangsvej 150, 8200 Aarhus
This event is for KALAI members however you have a possibility to invite your guests. Entry for members is free. There is a fee of 50 Kr. for guests. Kids below 18 years are free however they can come to the event only with an adult.
Please register latest by 13th August 2023.
If you are not a KALAI member yet, you have an opportunity to perform in the event by sending their entries to events@kalai.dk. Last date for sending entries is 25th July. We have limited numbers of performance slots.

The festival of harvest.
For the first time KALAI is coming up with an exciting event for celebrating Lohri and Sankranti in Aarhus. KALAI takes immense pleasure in inviting you all to celebrate “Sasya Utsav 2023: The festival of harvest”.
This harvest festival is widely known in India as Makar Sankranti and is celebrated with different names in different states. In Punjab and Haryana it is called Maghi and is observed the next day after Lohri , Assam : Bihu , Tamilnadu: Pongal , Gujarat: Uttarayan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar: Khichdi Sankranti, Andhra Pradesh: Pedda Panduga and likewise celebrated in many other states with many beautiful names.
Main attraction of the event is Lohri and bonfire celebration followed by cultural performances representing our beautiful and diverse Indian states. We have also arranged food stalls representing Indian states and they would sell Sankranti special food.
