After the grand success 🙌 of last year’s SASYA UTSAV, KALAI is back again with “ SASYA UTSAV 2024: The Festival Of Harvest ”. KALAI is very delighted to invite you all to this harvest festival which is celebrated across India under various names.

Regional dance performances  would be one of the biggest attractions of the Saya Utsav Event. But this time the event’s showstopper would be “Fancy dress for Kids”.  KALAI invites all the children participants to come dressed in the beautiful ethnic dresses of their state/region and be a part of our Fancy dress Show. If you are interested in performing a Regional Group dance based on Sankranti songs/folk dance from a particular state or would like to present a small skit depicting how Sankranti is celebrated in your state, then please send your entries to events@kalai.dk on or before 20th December. Please include a brief description of the performance, number of performers, their names and the duration.

Entry Fee: (Note that Entry fee is non-refundable)

  • 65 Kr. for Non KALAI members, 
  • 50 Kr. for KALAI members (Non-transferable), 
  • 40 Kr. for Youth (12-18 years) 
  • 40 Kr. for Students against valid student Identity card. 
  • Free entry for children up to 12 years old (Only accompanied with adults). 

Payment mode: Mobilepay, Credit/Debit Card or Cash payment available at the venue. Please pay for registration while making your booking.

Food stalls: Food can be purchased from the food stalls at the venue. If you are interested in keeping your food stall then please contact us on email events@kalai.dk or Whatsapp/SMS on +45-50119200. 

Parking: School has a good amount of free parking. You can also park in a residential area near by school. 

Outside food/drink: It is strictly prohibited to bring any food/drink from outside. 

Alcohol: Consumption of alcohol in/around the venue area is strictly prohibited.

It would be really nice if not only the kids but their parents can also come dressed in the traditional dresses of their states and demonstrate the true meaning of Unity in diversity.

Celebrating Indian Independence 2023

CELEBRATING INDIA’S 77TH INDEPENDENCE DAY

Freedom in the mind,
Faith in the words,
Pride in our souls, 
Let's come together to salute the Nation on this Independence Day!

KALAI would like to invite all members and non members (with a fee of 50kr.) to celebrate India’s unity and spirit of patriotism along with an opportunity to express ourselves.

Following are planned activities:

  • Solo, duet or group Singing/Dancing/Playing instruments on patriotic songs. 
  • Ethnic dress for both kids and adults portraying a freedom fighter. 
  • Skits or short plays. 
  • Poetry related to the theme. 

Program Date : 19th August 2023 from 14:00 to 20:00

Location: Skovvangskolen, Skovvangsvej 150, 8200 Aarhus

This event is for KALAI members however you have a possibility to invite your guests. Entry for members is free. There is a fee of 50 Kr. for guests. Kids below 18 years are free however they can come to the event only with an adult.

Please register latest by 13th August 2023.

If you are not a KALAI member yet, you have an opportunity to perform in the event by sending their entries to events@kalai.dk. Last date for sending entries is 25th July. We have limited numbers of performance slots.

Sasya Utsav 2023

The festival of harvest.

For the first time KALAI is coming up with an exciting event for celebrating Lohri and Sankranti in Aarhus. KALAI takes immense pleasure in inviting you all to celebrate “Sasya Utsav 2023: The festival of harvest”. 

This harvest festival is widely known in India as Makar Sankranti and is celebrated with different names in different states. In Punjab and Haryana it is called Maghi and is observed the next day after Lohri , Assam : Bihu , Tamilnadu: Pongal , Gujarat: Uttarayan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar: Khichdi Sankranti, Andhra Pradesh: Pedda Panduga and likewise celebrated in many other states with many beautiful names.

Main attraction of the event is Lohri and bonfire celebration followed by cultural performances representing our beautiful and diverse Indian states. We have also arranged food stalls representing Indian states and they would sell Sankranti special food.

Dandiya Night 2022

KALAI welcomes you all to “Dandiya Night 2022“. 

Let’s Dance, have Fun , enjoy Food and celebrate Navratri.

Ramleela 2022

KALAI welcomes you all to experience our great Indian Epic Ramayana in “Ramleela 2022“. 

Experience the unique theater experience and get inspired by the life of Shri Ram ( रामचंद्र ).  The act is based on the famous Indian epic Valmiki Ramayana (वाल्मीकि रामायण ). It will be presented by the local artists.

 Shri Ram – श्री राम (also known as Ramachandra – रामचंद्र ) is son of Ayodhya king Dashrath (दशरथ ) and descendant of Lord Sun (सूर्यदेव ) and seventh avatar of Vishnu (विष्णु ). His wife Sita (सीता ) daughter of Janak (जनक ), brother Lakshman (लक्ष्मण) & Bharat (भरत), Soorpnakha (सूर्पणखा),  exemplary devotee (भक्त ) Hanuman (हनुमान), vanar sena (वानर सेना ) and Ravan (रावण) are some important characters in the epic Ramayana.

    • The dialogues of the play are in Hindi, but there would be an English narration to explain different phases of the play.

    • Parents of kids, especially below 8 years, are expected to ensure that their kids are seated quietly during the entire show and avoid any kind of disturbance for other guests & artists.
    • Kids below 4 years gets free entry provided they sit with their parents (on their lap)

KALAI Sasya Utsav 2022: The festival of Harvest

Hello All,
It is winter and festival time so many of us are busy with Christmas dinner and very soon will be busy celebrating New Year as well.
KALAI is extending this celebration time and planning to celebrate “Sasya Utsav: The festival of Harvest”. In Indian we celebrate this festival with different names. like Punjab & Haryana : Lohri or Maghi, Asaam : Bihu, Tamil Nadu : Pongal, Gujarat : Uttarayan, Utter Pradesh & Bihar : Khichadi Sankranti, Bengal & Maharashtra & Karnataka & Odisha : Makar Sankranti etc.
Our celebration will be on Saturday, 15th Jan 2022 from 14:30 til 19:30 in Folkestedet, Aarhus. Venue is for max 98 person. There will be entry fee for Members 40 DKK and non-members 60 DKK per person. Children Below 12 years are free. Children above 12 years need to pay 20 Kr for members family and 30Kr for non-members family.
